The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program is a federally-funded supplemental nutrition program. WIC supports Florida Families by providing the following at no cost:
- Healthy foods
- Breastfeeding support
- Nutrition education
- Referrals to other services
Families are screened for nutritional risk and income eligibility. Licensed nutritionists and nutrition educators determine eligibility and provide nutrition assessment, counseling, and education to assist families in making healthier nutrition, physical activity, and lifestyle choices.

- The WIC foods can include fruits and vegetables, milk, cheese, yogurt, eggs, whole grains, cereals, fruit juices, dry beans or peas, and peanut butter.
- The program strongly encourages breastfeeding as the best method of infant feeding and nurturing. Please see the North Central Florida Breastfeeding Resource List for more breastfeeding resources and information. Caregivers who bottle-feed their infants may receive formula.
